A stroll through the Paris Sewers

Did you know there’s a sewer museum in Paris?

In case you’re put off by the thought of even stepping foot inside it – don’t worry, I’ve done it for you.

Yes, I teamed up with past guest Amber Minogue (hear her last appearance here) and we went underground to check out the Musée des égouts.

Oh yes, and Amber was talking about finding a quote from Victor Hugo about the sewers. Here’s a whole chapter from Les Miserables about the sewers.

Here’s one small part I like about when Jean Valjean was in the sewers: “By degrees, we will admit, a certain horror seized upon him. The gloom which enveloped him penetrated his spirit. He walked in an enigma. This aqueduct of the sewer is formidable; it interlaces in a dizzy fashion. It is a melancholy thing to be caught in this Paris of shadows.”
