Versailles, Paris books, and bakeries: Coming up in June on The Earful Tower

May was a crazy month – four podcast episodes, loads of videos on the new YouTube channel (subscribe right now), and a new guide book to Paris.

But that’s nothing. Here comes June.

By my count, besides the podcast episodes, there will be six live Walk Show videos, so if you’re not subscribed as a flaneur for $10 a month, now is absolutely the time to do it.

By the way, if ten dollars a month seems like a lot, let me just say that no one else is giving you six Walk Shows with six awesome guests in June. No one!

Check out this lineup:

The Paris Wall podcast episode

When: Monday June 4th

I’ve recently become fascinated by the Philippe Auguste Wall that ran around Paris 800 years ago. I’m very obsessed. I’ve even given tours about it to some listeners. Anyway, I’m gonna take you guys on an audio journey on my adventure to discover the hidden remnants of this wall in a mad race against time. It’ll be like the Da Vinci Code film on a slightly smaller budget.

To hear it: Just subscribe on iTunes (or wherever you get your podcasts) and it will be there for you on Monday morning. As always.

Walk Show with author Stephen Clarke

Don’t you know, talking about a revolution sounds like a whisper? Well not anymore, I’m set to meet with one of my favourite Paris authors, Stephen Clarke of the Year in the Merde series, and he’ll explain on live video the French revolution while we walk along the Left Bank of Paris. Expect blood, guts, and guillotines.

To watch it: Become a “Flaneur member” on Patreon ($10 a month), then tune in on the private Facebook group to watch the video live. A replay will be available later for members.

Stephen has been on the podcast a couple of times already, there he is in the studio below. Here’s an episode too:

Podcast on the mysteries of the Pere Lachaise cemetery

I don’t want to give away too much here, but I’ve got something cool cooking on the most famous cemetery in Paris. The guest? Joe Start, who’s just written a book on the cemetery! We might even do a video too….

To hear it: Just subscribe on iTunes (or wherever you get your podcasts) and it will be there for you on Monday June 11th.

Walk Show: The best Paris street for bakeries

Woohoo, we’re pastry hunting for this live video, and who better to do it with than Frank Adrian Barron, aka Cake Boy Paris. We’ll be walking and talking on a street of his choice on the Left Bank (I’m not giving the location away yet), and he will tell us all we need to know about sweet treats on sweet streets in Paris. This boy knows his cakes! Pic evidence below.

To watch it: Become a “Flaneur member” on Patreon ($10 a month), then tune in on the private Facebook group. A replay will be available later for members.

Walk Show with author Elaine Sciolino

Here comes a Live Walk Show with award-winning author Elaine Sciolino. Where? Rue des Martyrs, of course, the setting for her book The Only Street in Paris. The plan is to walk from one end to the other.

To watch it: Become a “Flaneur member” on Patreon ($10 a month), then tune in on the private Facebook group. A replay will be available later for members.

Did you know Elaine was the second-ever guest on The Earful Tower podcast? Listen here. We recorded in the Shakespeare and Co bookshop. The show sounds a bit different now, huh?

Walk Show on Wheels

I’ll join the lads from Bike About Tours on a little trip to VERSAILLES. I’ve never really even mentioned Versailles on The Earful Tower, so we’re entering brand new territory here. Join for the live video tour so we can see what’s out there!

To watch it: Become a “Flaneur member” on Patreon ($10 a month), then tune in on the private Facebook group. A replay will be available later for members.

Podcast episode with a Paris-based wedding pastor

Why do so many people want to get married in Paris – even if they don’t live here? Why is Paris so romantic? And will Reverend Michelle Wahila (aka Ruffled by Grace) bless my honeymoon journey around France?

All these questions answered for your listening pleasure.

To hear it: Just subscribe on iTunes (or wherever you get your podcasts) and it will be there for you on Monday June 18th.

Walk Show with the friendliest tour guide in Paris, April Pett

Back by popular demand, tour guide extraordinaire April Pett will show me one of her favourite Paris streets. You might remember her from our walks on Rue Mouffetard (preview below) and Rue Montorgueil. Book a tour with her here.

To watch it: Become a “Flaneur member” on Patreon ($10 a month), then tune in on the private Facebook group.

Invader Hunt with YouTuber Jay Swanson

Regular listeners to this show know I love a good piece of Invader street art. So when Jay told me he knew the best place to find them (in the Marais, apparently), then I said “Well let’s do a Walk Show about it!”

Here’s what happened last time we went looking. Expect a much warmer temperature this time around. I hope.

To watch it: Become a “Flaneur member” on Patreon ($10 a month), then tune in on the private Facebook group.

And coming soon after…. The Honeymoon Season

When: From August 15th

Season three is nearing an end, meaning the Amour de France scooter trip is soon to begin. There’s a new “Honeymoon” tab at the top of the page, be sure to check it for updates. Listen to the rough plan here to get started. And again, thanks so much for all the kind words and wonderful suggestions.

amour de france (1)

If you’ve got questions or ideas for any of the guests above, don’t hesitate to leave them in the comments below. If you’ve ever considered becoming a crowdfunding member of the audience, but wanted to wait until the time is right, now is the right time.

Your contributions will allow me to make The Earful Tower my full time gig – which is my dream job.

The $10 Flaneur level on Patreon is quite new. If you’ve never heard about it before, or if you’ve signed up at a different tier, a few clicks is all it takes to switch groups. And if you’re scratching your head at the idea of a Walk Show, I’ve explained it here.

And if you’re wondering why the heck you’d support a podcast, I’ve explained it all in great detail here.

See you soon – and thanks to all for listening, watching, supporting and reviewing! June is going to be an epic month for the Earful – hope you enjoy it!
