Hi, Oliver,
I enjoyed your show with Ann Mah. Her novel sounds fascinating, and her prior French Eating work is on my list.
One comment, though: your g-mail listener asked about Halloween, and your answer sounded right, but she seemed to have conflated it with La Toussaint (All Saints’ Day), November 1. La Toussaint is un Jour Férié en France, at least according to my research. It is definitely a church holiday although, as in the U S, that doesn’t really mean much to the workaday “civilian” world.
Then there’s “laCommemoration des Fidèles Défunts,” (All Souls’ Day). But that’s another story.
Keep up the good work!!
All good points, thank you and I think you may be right
