Recently on the podcast I’ve been exploring the hidden gems of the 12th district, I’ve ventured through the old covered markets and discovered the artisans settled under the Viaduc des Arts.

And for the first live video this week, I revisited each place from the past three podcast episodes and recorded a live walk show. Then today I explored the Bassin de l’Arsenal where the canal meets the river. As Earful Tower Patreon members, you were also invited to watch them both live! Thanks to all who could make it, but if you missed them, never fear: the replay links are below.
THE VIDEO REPLAYS
Here’s the link for the replay of the markets, the gin distillery, and the chocolate shop. Here’s the link for the replay of the canal and river walk.
I want to stress: If you ever miss the live show, the replay link is always the exact same link as the live video, and is always available immediately afterwards.
I was accompanied on the first walk by The Earful Tower’s photographer Augusta Sagnelli, who took all these extra pictures I’ve not shared elsewhere. (When the pics are small, click them to make them big!)
The interactive map
First, here’s an interactive map of everything we visited in the 12th during that first video.
The Baron Rouge
We passed Le Baron Rouge on our walk, an excellent place for a glass of wine, to be enjoyed either standing around tables inside or on the outdoor terrace. We featured this authentic and charming wine bar during our Paris Countdown series last year.
Address: 1 Rue Théophile Roussel, 75012

Early Bird Cafe
Last week’s podcast guest, Joseph Loughney, joined us once again to show us around his Early Bird cafe. You can hear him on the podcast here.
Address: Marché Beauvau, Pl. d’Aligre, 75012

Marché Beauvau
We took a look inside the bustling covered market, Marché Beauvau. It is a historic monument that was built in 1843 – with a fascinating ceiling similar to an inverse boat hull. The market’s lively atmosphere offers an authentic glimpse into Parisian life and culture.
Address: Pl. d’Aligre, 75012 Paris

The Atelier C chocolate shop
We popped into chocolate workshop and store, Atelier C, which we featured on the podcast a few weeks ago. This store is tucked underneath the Viaduc des Arts, a once abandoned railway line that has been transformed into a vibrant pedestrian walkway with workshops and galleries lining its arches. Click here to listen to chocolatier Marielle tell her story and how she found her love for chocolate.
Address: 123 Av. Daumesnil, 75012

Distillerie du Viaduc
Quentin de Montgolfier, co-owner of the Distillerie du Viaduc, greeted us in his store to share some details of his gin-making process. If you’re a gin lover, or simply curious about the emerging Parisian gin scene, this episode of The Earful Tower’s podcast is a must-listen. You can click here to listen to it.
Address: 55 Av. Daumesnil, 75012

More things we saw
And lastly, we stumbled across many wondrous things throughout the walk such as the beautiful artisan shops nestled underneath the railway arches and the Promenade plantée (Coulée Verte René-Dumont), a park built right on top of the old viaduct.
